Where did he go?

Where did he go?

I suspect that most people who have collected the Heritage Set 2024 have now moved to other map companies.

We are even past 2025 Heritage that appear in the shopping shelves, at least where I live – it can certainly hang out for a little longer, I don’t think flippers are swallowing heritage. However, I still hunt short prints in the ’25 Heritage and I still keep an eye on a bit interesting for me in Heritage 2024. I usually still think about chasing the high figures and thinking about which other Dodgers parallels I want.

So yesterday I looked through my ’24 heritage in the Dodgers -Binder and got an idea for what I could shop, when I suddenly realized that there was no Max Muncy in the set.

“That’s fun,” I thought. “I am pretty sure that I have completed both the main set and the set of the high marks.” But just to be sure I looked at TCDB and Comc. And yes, Muncy is nowhere to be found in Heritage 2024.

Foreign.

And yes, I should probably have noticed this sooner. I am slow to pick up such discrepancies – I have too many things going on.

As a refresher course because I know that not many of your Dodgers are fans, Muncy was fairly remarkable in the team in 2023 – the year that 2024 heritage reflects. He became second in the team in Thuis Runs, RBIs and walks. He finished third in points. Ok, so his stroke average was .212, but I hope that TOPPS did not punish him for that. This is just the design from 1975, it is actually not 1975.

In 2018 I nagged about heritage that did not appear in topps products, because they seemed to be slow for the switch, including him. But because Muncy has been a fixture, he appeared in heritage every year – except 2024.

Here is a list (a different list!) Of the Dodgers players who appeared in most games in 2023 and 2024 that are not heritage in 2024:

1. Miguel Rojas – 227

2. Max Muncy – 208

3. Chris Taylor – 204

4. Jason Heyward – 187

5. Austin Barnes – 113

Ok, Miguel Rojas probably also has a case to complain, but at the time he was still considered more a defensive role player, the same with Taylor. Jason Heyward hurts – he should also be in the set, especially if Heritage High Numbers includes that someone is called, Andre Lipcius, who never played for the Dodgers.

But no Muncy is astonishing.

I assume that this was just a touch of topps/fanatics and not a license issue. Muncy is in the flagship of 2024 and other tops sets that year.

I probably didn’t miss much because Muncy did not appear in ’24 Heritage. Muncy’s 2025 Heritage Card is not very exciting and none of his heritage cards are interesting:

If it was not for the 60 years of the La Dodgers -Patch that Muncy wears on the 2019 Heritage Card in the top left, I could be convinced that all these photos are of the same photo shoot from about five years ago. We all know that the backgrounds are fake.

At least I will always have this Max Muncy Heritage card.
