After a vaunted run in his signature line that saw each of his signatures from IV to VIII embrace a low cut, Eric Avar and Kobe Bryant flipped the script and returned to a high version with the Nike Kobe 9. While divisive in the original formulation, the two leaders and the Nike design team ultimately returned to form, maintaining the Flyknit build of the Kobe 9 itself for the Kobe 9 Elite Low. Some ten years after its initial release, the silhouette is back in action as the newest face in the Protro line.

The overarching story for the Kobe 9 focused on the Mamba’s masterful personality on the pitch, often harking back to creative geniuses like Pablo Picasso for the ‘Inspiration’, Michelangelo for the ‘Detail’ and Beethoven for the… well, the ‘Beethoven’. Michael Jackson’s artistry takes center stage once again as the “Moonwalker” returns to shelves, this time with improved traction underfoot and a switch to React cushioning to match the Protro title.
