Manchester United -defender Lisandro Martinez continues to work hard behind the scenes prior to a hopeful return to the team this year.
Martinez sustained an ACL injury in February during the 2-0 defeat of Manchester United against Crystal Palace.
The torn ACL has since kept him out of operation, with the player returning to a light outdoor training in July.
Lisandro Martinez was able to return to Manchester United Squad next month
According to SunMartinez has undergone individual training sessions as part of his latest rehabilitation phase.
The report adds that Manchester United is considering illuminating him back to the team once the international break of November has been closed, depending on how his recovery progresses.
The 27-year-old defender stayed behind the scenes during his time, after he was promoted in the summer by manager Ruben Amorim to Manchester United’s Leadership Group.
The time of Lisandro Martinez in Manchester United is marred by injuries
Since he came to Manchester United of Ajax in 2022, the career of Lisandro Martinez in England has repeatedly been disturbed by injuries.
The World Cup winner missed a total of 90 games in all competitions for Club and Country.
His injury record shows how bad luck he has been over the past three seasons:
| Season | Injury | Start date | Return date | Days Out | Team (s) | Missed games |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2024–25 | Cruciate ligament injury | 03 Feb 2025 | 31 Oct 2025 | 271 days | Manchester United | 33 |

After his return of a midfoot fracture in 2023, Martinez suffered several setbacks – including a foot injury, knee problem and calf stem before his most recent ACL fracture earlier this year, with Martinez going to go under the knife.
Manchester United’s sad start to the new season
Man United has made a terrible start of the new season while their struggles continue.
Ineos decided to support Ruben Amorim on the back of a miserable season, with hope that a rebuild among the Portuguese could improve the fate of the club.
But the Red Devils are currently 10th in the competition, after they have lost three games of the seven so far.
They were also beaten out of the League Cup, with Grimsby Town who spends them punishing.
The pressure is set up on Amorim and although he seems to have the support of the owners for the time being, the manager is thin ice and needs a good series of results to win the confidence of the fans.
