There’s a chill in the air, the leaves are changing color and the Los Angeles Dodgers are steaming their way to another World Series. It’s the end of October again. Some call this time of year “spooky season.” With Halloween just around the corner, it’s more than appropriate to start with horror classics. However, there may be some road scares coming your way from the movies you watch every fall.
What’s the scariest car you’ve ever seen on the road? I’m talking about the vehicles that, in some cases, make you change lanes or take a detour. The reason for your fear could be a stereotype that drivers of certain makes and models have, or the general feeling of fear you have when driving near certain vehicles. Trucks carrying cargo often draw the ire of the highway traffic crowd. Many drivers don’t like driving next to tractors, especially on windy days. Trucks carrying logs tied to an open flatbed are also avoided on the road if possible. It’s easy to imagine tree trunks coming loose like a death scene in a Final Destination movie.
Always beware of the Nissan Altima
My choice is undisputedly the Nissan Altima. The Japanese sedan has earned a reputation as the vehicle of choice for bad drivers. It’s not a widespread anecdote, but a position earned through countless crashes and collisions. In 2023, a woman drove her Altima straight into a Florida restaurant while trying to park. Twenty people were injured in the incident. Nine of the injured were so seriously injured that they had to be hospitalized. Fortunately no one was killed. In a more terrifying accident in 2018, an Altima launched into a median and crashed into the second floor of a dental office in Santa Ana, California. Police alleged the driver had taken drugs before getting behind the wheel.
Please feel free to submit the scariest car you’ve ever seen in the comments below. As always, be sure to include the year, make, and model. Don’t worry, you can’t get into the comments.
