Djokovic, the 24-way Grand Slam champion, has been without a big title since 2023, where he stopped the trophy in New York, New York, who defeated Daniil Medvedev in the final.
Since then, the new guard has delivered his dominance, with Jannik Sinner and Alcaraz hoarding the slams of the past year.
Alcaraz is a five-time Grand Slam winner and the current French open holder, but his two-year-old winning series in Wimbledon was terminated by Sinner in July.
Sinner, the World No1, is the title defender at Flushing Meadows who defeated home favorite Taylor Fritz in last year’s final.
The Italian takes on the Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassy in the other last-four competition, but for them Djokovic and Alcaraz Slothoorns closed on Arthur Ashe Stadium for a ninth time.
The Serbian is 5-3 higher in the head-to head of the couple and has won the last two meetings between them, on the Olympic gold medal match in Paris and in the Australian Open quarterfinals of Australian Open.
From those two games, Djokovic dropped only one set and on hard courts he is unbeaten against the 22-year-old Spaniard.
However, Alcaraz has a winning family tree at the US Open and claims a first big title of his emerging career in 2022.
The second seed has to drop a set this year at the tournament of this year, and he gave up a spectacular show while he passed the last eight past the 20th seed Jiri Lehecka.
In the meantime, Djokovic survived two fears in the second and third round and each dropped a set to Zachary Svajda and Cameron Norrie, and he recovered from a third set of Blip against World No3 Fritz to get through the American in four sets in the quarter finals.
