A common criticism of beyond our Ryder Cup teams, when leasing those leasing, is that they do not play as a team. They act as individuals, without showing the bond and selflessness that is seen on the European side. But Keegan Bradley, who will request the American team from 2025 in two weeks, says that this year’s American Squad is not something like those teams.
Instead, they took the largest American weakness and turned it upside down for this year’s Ryder Cup. And ultimately, as Bradley claimed on the ProCore Championship, this could be the “Developer” at Bethpage Black.
Bradley on US Ryder Cup team: ‘Expand team I have ever seen’
Bradley is in Napa this week for the PGA Tour’s 2025 Procore Championship. But as will be with the Ryder Cup, he doesn’t play. He is only there in his role as a team captain.
Ten of the 12 American Ryder Cup players are in the ProCore field, because Bradley works to complete his combinations and, more importantly, to restrict his team.
But as Bradley revealed to reporters in the ProCore on Wednesday, these players are already a close group.

“Yes, we have a wide range of rookies, veterans, Scottie Scheffler, number 1 player in the world, but we really have a group of a great team,” said Bradley. “These guys are … they really care, they treat each other with respect. It is the nearest team I have ever seen.”
Bradley played last year in the Victorious US President Cup team and helped the American team to a victory of 18.5-11.5 at the international team in Royal Montreal. That team contained six 2025 Ryder Cup players next to Bradley.
He compared the ‘dynamic’ of that successful American team with this year’s Ryder Cup Group.
“Our Presidents Cup team last year was easily the best team room I was ever part of,” said Bradley. “Something you really dream about as a child with these team events. This group is – looks a bit different on paper, but it is still the same dynamic.”
The way Bradley sees it, it is in this way this team distinguishes itself from the American Ryder Cup teams in the past.

How 2025 US Ryder Cup team differs from previous teams
While the American and European teams have traded Ryder Cup victories in recent years, that was not always the case.
Team Europe dominated the event from 2002-2014. They won six of the seven times, with the only American victory in Valhalla in 2008.
Bradley’s Two performances as a player in the Ryder Cup came at the end of that forgetful piece: 2012 and 2014. Both were losses for the American team, including at home in Medina in 2012.

While those teams, often in the head by Rivals Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, were announced for a lack of togetherness, Bradley says that his 2025 team could no longer be different. And he would know.
“This group of players, they are really friends and they are friends of the golf course, who in my teams that I played before, I don’t know if we had that exactly as much as this group,” said Bradley Wednesday. “They really care.”
He continued: “The thing that I noticed is that the most impressive is that they are really done and they want each other to do well. When I was playing, I didn’t really pull for someone, I wanted to beat and play my best. These guys, they are really enthusiastic for their friend winning a tournament and that is really great.”
The unique characteristics of this American team go beyond the proximity. Bradley said his players have already shown the willingness to calm their ego and do what is best for the team.
“We also have some new boys and it was great to see the willingness for our boys to really play with everyone,” he said. “Again, I don’t necessarily feel that we had that in the former teams I have had. These guys put me with someone or with whom you want to play, who you want to say veterans with boys who have not played Ryder Cup, which is really special. It’s a big maker.
Bradley leads the American Ryder Cup team in battle at Bethpage Black from Friday 26 September.
