What show would programmers like to see revived? | Television tonight

Dramas, comedy, entertainment… these are the shows TV executives would like to see make a comeback.

Television tonight recently brought Free to Air Programming executives on the scene and asked which show they would like to see revived or rebooted?

…and it didn’t necessarily have to be someone from their own network.

This is what they said…

Frontlinebut only with that team.

“Brides of Christ……Blue murder..…it will have to be this way Race around the world!”

Tamara Simoneau, vice president, content, Paramount Australia (bottom right)

“Personally, I loved it The Masked Singer because I worked on it. It’s everything the world needed at that moment, and probably could always use, and that’s just crazy, playful TV that doesn’t require you to think too hard. It does require you to sit down and watch it together and have that small talk about the guessing game.

“And the other thing was I loved drawing the masks.”

So are there any plans on the horizon?

“Never say never.”

Natalie Edgar, Channel Manager, SBS / SBS VICELAND (center)

“I would like to see, across all broadcasters and streaming networks, more comedy.

“And I would have loved it if the ABC came in an Olympic year The Games back. Obviously John Clarke is no longer with us, but that show was so iconic and so hilarious.

Packed right up to the Rafters or All saints. Some big brand Aussie drama, nostalgia and more drama at 7.30pm!”

Geoff Dyer, Program Director for Nine and 9Now (bottom left)

‘I’d like to see a new one Underbelly. It was so different, confrontational and really pushed the boundaries of what had been seen in an Australian drama at the time. I’d like to see what a current interpretation of that would look like.

“It’s one of the few FTA dramas whose DVDs I’ve rewatched multiple times!”
