The favorite feathered couple from Big Bear is a step closer to reach the status of empty Nester after one of their offspring was fleeed on Monday. But now that Sunny is out of the nest, what will come afterwards?
Sunny bewildered fans who tuned to the Friends of Big Bear Valley’s (FBBV) Eagle Cam when she went up the air and rose above the mountain community on Monday morning. According to Sandy Steers, director of FBBV, the young eagle was spotted in a nearby tree, not far from home.
“Sunny is probably coming back, but we don’t know for sure,” said Steers. “It’s up to her.”
The director of the non -profit organization said it is not unusual that Young Eagles return to Mama and Dad shortly after taking the flight as they adapt to their new independence.
“The eagles that Jackie and Shadow all returned to the nest at one point,” she said. “One, the same day, others a few days later, so we’ll see what happens. But Jackie and Shadow will keep an eye on her and look and ensure that she gets food and is protected where she is.”
Sunny’s departure leaves her brother or sister, Gizmo, only with their parents. Now that Sunny explores her new skills, Jackie and Shadow Gizmo continue to cherish to prepare her to leave the nest.
“Jackie and Shadow have both been to the next nourishing Gizmo, so Gizmo is very happy to get all the food,” said Steers.
The Eagle family had the support of internet users who cheered for them when they laid eggs, they congratulated when they came out, expressed their worries when a hatchling was missing and kept rooting while they cared for two eagles.
“I think people connect to the Eagles because they see similarities in themselves,” said Steers. “Some people say it reminds them to breathe and slow down and just sit and just look and be peaceful with nature. I just think the bond with nature with nature had lost or forgot, which makes people so enthusiastic about looking at this camera every day.”
