It seems Romano isn’t convinced by these transfer rumors as he has now spoken out about the stories targeting him YouTube channel.
While Rodrygo is a top player who could certainly be tempting for a big club like Chelsea, especially since he isn’t playing much for Real Madrid at the moment, these links don’t seem to mean anything for now.
When discussing the speculation, Romano made it clear that there have been no contacts regarding this deal so far, so it seems we can ignore it for now.
Fabrizio Romano on transfer links from Rodrygo to Chelsea
“From Brazil they mentioned Chelsea as a possible solution for Rodrygo,” Romano said.
“But at the moment what I am getting from Chelsea sources is very clear; Chelsea are not in negotiations with Rodrygo, and are not in discussions with Rodrygo’s camp or Real Madrid.”
That’s about as simple as it gets, right? Sorry to all the Chelsea fans who were hopeful that the Brazil international would show up at Stamford Bridge soon!
Could Rodrygo even be the right signing for Chelsea?
Frankly, as good as Rodrygo is, he has been far from his best lately, and Chelsea could probably do better.
The west London giants already have plenty of strength in attack, with some elite young players such as Estevao Willian, Jamie Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho vying for places in that part of Enzo Maresca’s squad.
At his best, Rodrygo could undoubtedly add something to the CFC team, but there can be no guarantee that he will return to his top form.
Chelsea will also likely continue to focus on younger players rather than a proven big name like this.
