The Texas Rangers recently fired manager Bruce Bochy after three seasons at the helm, with a World Series title in 2023.
And now Texas has found a replacement.
Skip Schumaker is the new manager of the Rangers after he worked in their front office last year. He was previously the bench coach for the San Diego Padres and St. Louis Cardinals and managed the Miami Marlins and won the NL Manager of the Year Award 2023.
According to Bob Nightengale from USA Today, no external candidates were interviewed, who gave Schumaker the inside of the track to claim the job after the dismissal of Bochy.

Schumaker is a former player who spent 11 years in the competition with the Cardinals, Los Angeles Dodgers and Cincinnati Reds. He won two World Series titles in St. Louis.
The Rangers now have a younger manager-schumaker, while Bochy 70 is who has contact with the modern game and understands how they can combine analyzes with old-fashioned thinking. They also have someone who has spent the entire year getting to know the organization and settle in it.
The former manager of the year helped the Marlins to turn in 2023. They had gone 69-93 in 2022 before he took over, and he led them to a season of 84-78 and a wildcard berth the following year.
The Rangers have missed the late season for two years in a row since they won their World Series title. Given the track record of Schumaker, it is quite possible that Texas could have a quick change and immediately bounce with him again at the helm.
Hiring Schumaker alone will not solve their problems, but having a proven leader would be the most beneficial for Texas. Schumaker is known as a manager of a player and should easily make contact with the clubhouse and the respect of the team should quickly win. A younger manager would also help the Rangers to stay up to date with the contemporary game.
Texas went 81-81 last season and finished in third place in the Al West, nine games at the back of the Seattle Mariners and five games back in the WildkardRace.
