Jazz Chisholm from Yankees Back Up Big Words with Big Play: ‘The best team in the competition

Boston-Jazz Chishholm Jr. Not only made a statement after the game, when the ultra-self-insured second Honkman again called the Yankees ‘The best team in the competition’.

He also did this on the field, with his third consecutive multi-hit competition in a 5-3 victory over the Red Sox on Saturday in Fenway Park.

Under his three hits, his 29th Homer of the season, which made him walked away a home run from his first 30-30 season, because he has already stolen 30.

“The only thing I want to do is help the team win and I felt that I did today,” said Chisholm.

He has done it a lot since he arrived from the Marlins before last year’s trade theadline.

On Saturday, Chisholm’s 162th game was like a Yankee and in that period he has 40 gays to join 48 stolen base.

According to Stat Guru Katie Sharp, Chishholm is only the sixth Yankee who hit 40 home runs in his first 162 games with the team, who fell at Aaron Judge, Gary Sanchez, Jason Giambi, Roger Maris and Babe Ruth.

“It’s really impressive,” said Aaron Boone about Chisholm who approached the milestone of 30-30, and noticed that Chishholm would have even better figures if he had been healthy throughout the season.

In his first full year as Yankee, Chisholm has tackled an oblique tension, as well as nagging injuries to his foot and Lies who robbed him of even better numbers.

The oblique issue cost him May and then only tried two stolen bases between 11 June and 29 July. He was caught both times.

All in all, Chishholm was sidelined for 28 games and also 39 games went without wiping a basis.

But when he gets up, Chisholm is a player a player like the Yankees have had in a long time.

And it left him on the edge of the first 30-30 season of the team since Alfonso Soriano did it in back-to-back seasons in 2002 and ’03.

“He missed a month and then a month when he came back, he still had to deal with the foot, so didn’t steal,” Boone said about Chisholm’s fear. “That is almost two months of play when he didn’t steal base and was not in the line -up for a month.”

Chisholm delivered what the Yankees hoped for when they got him out of the Marlins, when they expected that he would play the second base, with Gleyber Torres shifting from second to third place.

But when Torres was not willing to go to third place when he approached a free agency, Chisholm agreed to go to third place, a position that he was largely unknown with.

The results there were mixed, as they were when he had to play again a large part of the beginning of this year, because DJ Lemahieu did not feel at ease physically because he was in third place.

Now Chisholm is back where he belongs and he has been fantastic on both sides of the plate.

Much of it could be seen on Saturday, when Chisholm’s Squib Single drove in a run in the top of the first and then picked another run-scoring single through the left side of the Infield to score Aaron Judge in the third.

Chishholm was shot in the middle of Boston right-handed Brayan Bello with two out in the top of the fifth, the Yankees gave a 4-0 lead.

It was also the third consecutive multi-hit game from Chisholm and he has five RBIs during that piece, as well as a 1,066 Ops in 11 games against Boston this year.
