Mitchell Starc took a record of five wickets in 15 balls when the West -India on the third day of the third test against Australia in Jamaica was excluded for only 27.

The total of West India was the second lowest in test history, overshadowed only by the 26 of New Zealand against England in 1955, and easily reports their own worst total of 47, also against England in 2004.

At one point the hosts came to nothing for three and their innings include a record of seven ducks. They lost the game in Kingston against 176 runs.

Starc made a stunning start and removed John Campbell, Kevlon Anderson, Brandon King, Mikyle Louis and Shai Hope in 15 balls and only stood up two runs.

His LBW against Louis also brought up his 400th Test Wicket, making him only the fourth Australian to achieve the performance, in his 100th test.

The Windies faltered to 22 for six with tea, but Australia continued to show no mercy after the break and Scott Boland took a hat trick to let the home team stare at an embarrassing finish.

Justin Greaves scored TOP for the Windies on just 11, with Been Byes (six) their second top scorer.

Starc – who closed the match by Bowling Jayden Seales – ended with six wickets for nine points of 7.3 overs. Boland’s figures were three to two.

Prior to the heroic deeds of Starc, the previous best five-wicket trek of his fellow Australian Ernie Toshack, who took five wickets in 19 balls against India in 1947.
