West Ham fans last saw their team beat Newcastle at home more than six years ago.
Since March 2019, Newcastle United have won four and drawn two against the Hammers.
If you read the comments below from West Ham fans, the vast majority see that there is little chance of anything changing on Sunday.
The Hammers have lost all four home games in the Premier League this season, conceding 12 goals in this quartet of defeats.
While it has been more than eight months since West Ham fans last saw their team win at the London Stadium in February, against a Leicester club that was already close to relegation.
Great gallows humor from these West Ham fans and while I have sympathy for them, I hope Newcastle United produce the kind of result on Sunday that most Hammers fans seem to think is all but inevitable.
West Ham fans respond via their Knees up Mother Brown notice board:
“Remove your hand for a draw. unfortunately we will be pumped back home by this fate. just too good, too fast, too physical, too good for our fate.
If you look online, there are thousands of seats left, but no doubt 62,500 will be sold out. Do we have the turnout for Brentford yet?
I hope we don’t get any injuries because this bunch is a tough and rough side; everything we are not.
joelinton woltenade bruno burn shar botman are all big units and will love a corner against Kilman and co!
I became a little more optimistic, but back to my original score WHU 0 Newcastle 6′
‘You’re right about how strong Newcastle are physically.
Our midfield looks incredibly weak, even with Magassa in it.”
‘How did we manage to put together such a terrible team of players?’
“I really believe we can change things if Nuno picks the right team and the players do their job. ‘
‘My confidence in Nuno has completely disappeared after last week. Two of the most incompetent lineups we’ve released in living memory.
I’m not saying fire him, he’s here now and he’ll get the season, but he has to show he knows what he has here.”
“I think we win…”
This is a turning point in the season and we are really showing up.
The German (Fullkrug) scores nine goals between Christmas and the end of the season.’
“I’ll take whatever he drinks.”
“My concern is that the Geordie German gets a 9 between now and Monday.”
‘Newcastle are a very physically dominant team. Sort of a Poundland version of Arsenal at the moment. They stroll past midfield with ease.
I want to see Potts in the team too, but I’m not sure if this will be the right match for him. To be honest, I can’t think of a line-up that wouldn’t lead to defeat.’
‘Having difficulty watching LS matches, even on TV. So I’ll just check the score with FT for this, expecting the worst to happen.’
‘Do you think Toom fans will think Wilson will definitely score?’
“I didn’t think it would have occurred to them.”
‘I have no doubt that we will give in.
But we will also score.
I’m still going for a confidence-inspiring draw.’
‘Apologies if this has already been posted, but has anyone seen the new YouTube training video? Maybe I’m exaggerating, but it’s honestly embarrassing. Morale seems to be at an all-time low, the players seem like a bunch of strangers together. We’re in trouble… there’s just no character on that team. I’m honestly surprised that the PR team thought it was a good idea to upload it,’
‘Embarrassing is the word I would use too, the training match looked like a kick out you would have with your friends, no intensity, no working on form, players were not practiced in defending set pieces… there seemed to be very little input from the coaches, and where was Nuno? Has he checked out yet and is now spending his days at Rush Green taking a nap in his office, just like Avram?
We really are a zombie club, mindlessly shuffling towards the inevitable end.’
‘We will have to work twice as hard in the coming match to close off their midfield and prevent the ball from going wide. They have a German Andy Carroll who is currently taking the pi out of anyone who doesn’t prevent the ball from being passed.
They work hard with and without the ball and play through the thirds very quickly given the space and time.
Their defense is not that good so I would count on Bowen to get a goal and if he plays against Wilson we have half a chance because he will be motivated.”
“Newcastle will be looking to fill their boots.
I can easily see them scoring 5 or more.
Sad times. Sundays can be soul destroying.”
‘One of the best midfielders in the country against the absolute worst. Newcastle have the option to select Bruno, Joelinton and Tonali in midfield. All three physical players with real quality who can do everything expected of a midfielder.’
‘I’ve just heard that Newcastle haven’t won so far this season. Great.’
‘That’s fine. It’s been a whole calendar year since we won a weekend at home.’
‘Newcastle look good against Spurs tonight, Woltemade is mustard.’
‘I must admit that I feel very anxious, even scared, about Sunday’s match. They have speed and strength and are better than us in every position. They actually reassured Linton, Gordon, Guimaraes, Murphy, Pope, Botman, Osula.”
‘A team of athletic, powerful giants who play on the front foot and are excellent at set pieces. God help us.’
‘While Nuno definitely takes the blame for our last two line-ups/performances, this is the kind of game where you realize whoever the manager is is paralysed. I have no idea what we can do to counter their threats. What we have available just doesn’t hold up (at least on paper). This is why those performances and results against teams that aren’t that good hurt.
We need a good day and a bad day from them.”
‘Would Newcastle ever dream of signing Ward Prowse, Walker Peters, Hermansen, Summerville, Fulkrug, Fernandes, Kilman, Irving or Rodriguez?
Sullivan out’
‘Newcastle can’t be that brilliant if they haven’t won yet.
So far, away from home, they’ve dropped points against Brighton, Bournemouth, Leeds and Villa… so it’s clearly very possible to pick up points against them.”
“I don’t think that Waldemort guy, or whatever his name is, is that bad, but at 6ft 4in they are going to take advantage of his height and get most, if not all, of the high balls into our box. I think it’ll be a bloodbath, tbh.”
‘Well, I was starting to feel a bit better about us and only saw us losing 3-0, but after seeing them last night and knowing who would be starting for them, I’m fearing a big defeat. The 6-0 sticks in my head and that is not a pleasant feeling.
how do we deal with fires, woltenade, shar, botman joe linton on corners? then add snidey gordon and barnes plus bruno and tomali in midfield.
It looks like as usual the best part of the race day experience will be in the spoons and carpenters! it’s going to be a long day and that’s for the sit-in!’

Bruno, Joe Linton and Tomali…
“Howe’s always had our number and they’ve been looking decent lately.
it’s also a home game, so most likely 0-4 with a Callum Wilson own goal for fun.’
‘I’m not sure what’s going to happen.
Head says an absolute tonking with everyone at sixes and sevens. again.
Heart says a 1-0 win
Trust is always low. Team is not a team. At the last game I heard the commentary that the West Ham players were arguing with each other (maybe after the first goal). The manager chooses players and places them in different positions than where they normally play. Subs everywhere.
The positive was that when we brought Wilson in we had a bit more form. But then again, it’s not like we gave him one chance after another to score.”
“If they play Barnes against us, we’ll be devastated.”
“Joelinton is the one. I never judged him before, but I do now.’
‘Is Igor okay?
If he has a bit of aggression in him and isn’t afraid of a fight he can go in instead of Kilman who should be given a break, lacks confidence and just looks weak, that Woltemade boy will have him for breakfast on current form, Todibo isn’t much better but has played less.
The fear that there could be a refueling with their pace, physicality and Gordon sh..housery.”
‘Newcastle are a pretty good team. They have some steel in the middle of the park, something we lacked, and perhaps they are in the wrong position, which shows how difficult it is to climb up the table after a bad start.”
‘This week I’m going to triple captain Woltemade in fantasy, because West Ham need the points.’
