West -Bengal suspends four civil servants about alleged irregularities in the revision of election roles; No spar submitted

The West Bengal Government has suspended four officials and started the departmental procedure against them for alleged irregularities in the revision of election roles, but has not submitted FIRs, so that the guidelines of the election committee (EC) partially pay.

The suspensions came only a week after Chief Secretary Manoj Pant appeared before the EC in New Delhi, where he reportedly received a deadline of August 21 to suspend a criminal procedure and start against the officers by submitting FIRs.

“Although the state government has acted in the suspension directive and started the departmental procedure, it has not so far registered FIRs against the suspect,” said an officer at the State Secretariat.

He said that the suspended officials have two election registration officers (EROs) and two assistant -electoral registration officers (EROs) from South 24 Parganas and PURBA Midnapore Districts. The suspensions follow accusations of irregularities in the voter role of the constituents of the Baruipur East and Moyna Assembly.
