Welcome to the weekly Olympic thread. As a reminder, the men’s hockey teams with Predators representatives are: USA (Dr. Kevin), Finland (Saros, Haula), Sweden (Forsberg) and Switzerland (Josi).
Hockey thoughts: USA, Canada, Slovakia and Finland are through to the quarterfinals. Matches between the remaining eight teams on Tuesday will send the other four teams through… I have mixed thoughts about the Tom Wilson fight. First of all, I like that there is no fighting in the Olympics, but it doesn’t work when cheap shots only get a small penalty…I feel for Kevin Fiala – that looked painful and is most likely the end of the season.
Olympic Thoughts: I feel terrible for Ilia Malinin. He certainly feels like he’s let everyone down. Can they just stop playing the commercials showing him he’s awesome?…It’s been a few days and I still can’t fathom how anyone can win a 10K cross country event with bruised ribs…my husband and I agree that the skeleton competitors are insane.
