Week 6 Buy/Sell: I’m out of jokes

If you’ve followed the blog over the years, you know my worship for the basketball god that is Nikola Jokic, so I’ll keep today’s introduction short and sweet with 2 videos from last week. One against Houston and Alperen Sengun, who played his worst game of the season against the Joker

Ignore the terrible court and concentrate on the grace and beauty of the posterization. And of course the assist on all of Peyton Watson’s assists against Memphis.

Bonus points for the gasping Memphis fans and the Memphis bench palming its face in admiration. Absolute cinema.

As for last week’s suggestions, Moussa Diabate stood out with a good week, while Orlando boys Tristan Da Silva and Wendell Carter Jr were just OK. I would continue to rely on the latter though and ultimately on the Sell front Anfernee Simons had two great games to make me look like a fool, but his playing time is too light for my liking and I don’t think he needs to be rotated in the slightest.

Peyton Watson: When did this guy become a deadly 3pt shooter and did I miss the memo? Aside from the absurd shooting since he started for Denver due to injuries, we know Watson can bring the defense and the gravity that Nikola Jokic brings to the defense can help him find a lot of open shots. He’s been in the top 100 since he started, so add him and use him until Denver gets back to full strength (24% ownership).

Noah Clowney: I know we’ll continue to be disappointed if we put any kind of faith in this guy, but over the past two weeks the third year has averaged 3.3 triples, 1 steal, and 1.2 blocks, good for top 70 per game production. What’s even more encouraging is the increasing playing time, so check him out as he’s a young guy on the ever-tanking Brooklyn Nets (23% ownership).

Saddiq Bey: Herbert Jones will miss at least the next week with a right calf injury and the next man up is apparently Saddiq Bey, who is showing signs of fantasy life after missing all of last season with a torn ACL. His game isn’t particularly fantasy-friendly, but combining good triples with rebounds is often a tough find off waivers, so trade accordingly if it suits your team’s needs (18% ownership).

To sell

Kel’el Ware: The season started slowly for Ware, moving in and out of the starting lineup and, most importantly, not sharing the field with Bam Adebayo at all. However, a Bam injury forced him back into the starting line-up and he has been a beast, with a top 30 per match value for the season and a top 10 since Bam went down. The problem is what the Heat will do once both Bam and Andrew Wiggins are available, not to mention the return of Tyler Herro. Will they stick with the hot hand and try to play both big men against each other or return to the start of the season? It could go either way, but if I can get a top 50 player back for him right now, I wouldn’t stick around to find out if coach Spoelstra is convinced or not.
