We had a lot of highlights, lowlights and funny clips in the NBA this past week, so let’s take a look at them in that specific order, starting with perhaps Anthony Black’s dunk of the year against Memphis in Berlin.
That’s against four defensemen plus a foul that should have been called due to a bump on his head and I can confidently say I’ve never seen a poster dunk with that many players in the frame. And just to soothe your eyes from something so glorious to something… not so glorious, below we enjoy the pinnacle of fast breaks from the youthful Washington Wizards.
I’m sure you were expecting something bad, but did you really expect it to be THIS bad? It’s almost a 5 to zero as Zach Lavine has half given up on the game. Simply fantastic and I’m sure the head coach loved it. Speaking of head coaches, I couldn’t end today’s introduction without the following hilarious clip from coach Rajakovic of the Toronto Raptors.
It’s a very silent movie, speaking without speaking and my best interpretation is something like:
- Okay, okay, we’ll do something.
- Hmmm, come here…
- Yes yes exactly, that’s what you did wrong.
- Look, we talked about this again, so do we play it differently from now on?
My silent lip reading isn’t at its best, but as close as this is to the truth, it was still enjoyable.
As for last week’s suggestions, the biggest hit was Naji Marshall, who has been performing at a top-60 level in recent weeks and shows no signs of slowing down. Besides him, both Daniel Gafford and Collin Murray-Boyles suffered minor injuries and missed some time, while on the Sell front Cam Thomas had 8 and 3 points respectively in the games he played and is still back to back, so that’s all you need to know.
Buy
Jaylon Tyson: Darius Garland will miss at least the next four games, so Jaylon Tyson’s minutes will continue to increase, as evidenced by the 38 and 32 minutes he played in the last two. He can be a solid source of rebounds as a forward and a great source of triples, so watch him until Garland returns (28% ownership).
Tre Johnson: He’s not blowing us away with his current production, which is expected from rookie guards, but his minutes are continually increasing and if you also factor in the fact that Washington is being incentivized to refuel, we could see him play closer to 32 when it matters most for fantasy. It’s fine to have it for now, but I also like it as a preventive addition after the All Start break (13% ownership).
To sell
CJ McCollum: His move to Atlanta was clearly a negative for his fantasy value, as he ranks 260th in his games as a Hawk and we have no indication that things will improve. His usage is actually good, but his peripherals are lacking and we can say that we can even supplement his points by streaming from the wire. The best case scenario is to move him once he’s had a huge game, but I highly doubt you’ll find any buyers at this stage (60% ownership).
