With the Asia Cup around the corner, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has drawn a strong line about cricketrelations in India-Pakistan.
Prior to the tournament, Naqvi said that the PCB will no longer ask India for bilateral series, making it clear that future conversations, if present, are only on equal conditions.
“We are clear that all future discussions on equal conditions will take place with India.
The long -term impasse
India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral series since 2012-2013, despite repeated attempts from the PCB to breathe new life into tires.
Although competitions between the two countries generate enormous commercial interest, they are now only confronted with each other in Multi-Nation tournaments such as the Asia Cup and ICC events.
The impasse is not limited to bilateral cricket. Disputes about hosting rights have also fueled tensions.
Although India has the official hosting rights for the Asia Cup 2025, the tournament was moved to the VAE after India refused to play in Pakistan during the ICC Champions Trophy.
High-Stakes Group Stage Clash
The political freezing means that bilateral cricket will soon be unlikely, because the Indian government has also made its position clear.
For the time being, fans must rely on tournament meetings, with the most expected that is planned for September 14, when India and Pakistan meet in the group stage of the Asia Cup.
