According to statistics, it was India’s first defeat in a multi-nation T20I tournament since the semi-final loss to England in Adelaide during the 2022 T20 World Cup. After today’s heartbreaking defeat, India captain Suryakumar Yadav vowed to bounce back quickly. He praised the bowlers for restricting South Africa at crucial moments of the match but criticized the batting part.
Suryakumar Yadav praised Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh.
“We were always in the match when we started. We bowled very well in the beginning. From 7 to 15 they batted very well and then we came back. We bowled very well but could have batted better,” Suryakumar Yadav said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

Suryakumar Yadav praised Bumrah and Singh for their effective bowling spells. Bumrah claimed 3 wickets in his 4-over spell for an economy rate of 3.75, while Arshdeep Singh claimed 2 in 4 overs at just 28 runs.
“Everyone knows their combination is deadly. Both bowled eight overs, picked five wickets and conceded 45-50 runs. They bowled well in partnerships,” Suryakumar Yadav said while praising the pace duo.
South Africa bounced back
With the new ball, Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh dismissed South Africa’s top three batters in their line-up. After losing three quick wickets, Dewald Brevis (45), David Miller (63) and Tristan Stubbs (44*) pulled the team out of harm’s way.
Later, after the 16th over, India were back in the match and restricted South Africa to 187 for 7 in 20 overs.
The target was to chase for a team like India, which has a lot of firepower. But it was just a bad day for the Indian batters as they hardly offered any resistance to the opposition bowlers.
Shivam Dube was the only one who scored some notable runs and kept the team in the match for a while. Although South Africa, led by Aiden Markram, won the match with ease.
Surykumar Yadav promises to make a strong comeback
“Sometimes you have to think you can’t win the game in the power play, but you can lose it. We didn’t have the partnerships we needed. Part of the game. We’ll learn from it. Sit back and bounce back,” the Team India captain said.
“And good to have them on our side. (On plans for the next game in Chennai) Hopefully bat well, bowl well and field well. Keep it simple. That’s what we will try to do.”
