After India’s impressive win over Pakistan by 61 runs ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla expressed immense confidence in the team’s ability to sustain the entire tournament.

India defeated their arch-rivals in a dominant manner and qualified for the Super 8s. Commenting on the comprehensive triumph, Shukla called the margin of victory an important statement for all other teams. Shukla also highlighted the depth and balance within the Indian squad, pointing out how several players have stepped up at crucial times during the campaign.

“I think winning Pakistan by such a big margin is a huge achievement. Today I am confident that with the way our boys played, we will also win the World Cup,” Shukla said after the match.

“Sometimes Ishan Kishan performs, sometimes Abhishek performs, all the boys perform. So we have such a strong team that we will definitely win the World Cup,” he concluded.

Along with Shukla, former captain of India Rohit Sharma and ICC chairman Jay Shah were also present at this blockbuster encounter in Colombo.

India’s well-rounded performances with both bat and ball have made them one of the favorites in the tournament so far. With multiple competition winners in various divisions, the Men in Blue appear to be firmly on course as the Super 8 stage approaches.

After winning their first three matches, the Suryakumar Yadav-led team currently top the Group A table, becoming the second team after West Indies to reach the next stage of the competition.

It was a complete team effort from the hosts on a tricky R Premadasa wicket against Pakistan. After being invited to bat first, India scored 175/7 in their 20 overs, with left-handed Ishan Kishan He proved to be the star of the show, scoring 77 matches off just 40 balls. For this performance he was also named Player of the Match.

India will now take on the Netherlands at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on February 18 in their final Group A match.
