Who needs networks? The team from Aunt Donna takes comedy in his own hands.

Comedy label Grouse House is planning to launch its own subscription platform for Australian Comedy in 2026.

Owned by Hon’t You Do Done Put Productions, Grouse House is compiled by the Aunt Donna team.

Speak with the GuardianBruden Kelly, Mark Bonanno and Zachary Ruane have expressed disappointment about the state of comedy on television.

“We could feel that writing on the wall was with network comedy in Australia,” says Kelly. “There are two who do it – 10 and ABC2 – but it is Lord-of-the-rings-Stijl Odyssey Shit to get commissioned. Our experience is that when we got the green light to make a pilot or a proof or concept, it had to be all for everyone, and we would receive heavy rounds from notes. “

In 2023, the ABC screened the six -part series Aunt Donna’s coffee caféBut the general viewing numbers were overshadowed by one real estate sketch, shot a few hours before $ 500, who uploaded Aunt Donna to YouTube.

“You have to forget what ’14 year old you would like for your career, because we were only an ABC2 show,” says Kelly. “By the time we got one, we put it on a platform that was awkward and did badly to promote it.”

Grouse House will test a subscription service (hard launch in the early 2026), comparable to the independent streaming platform Dropout TV. Most content is still available for free on YouTube, but they are convinced that a percentage of fans will be a small fee for exclusive and a community.

In September Grouse House organizes six pilot supplies from Greg Larsen.
