Oh no, water leak in the camper! That’s it not What you want to experience! We lived with this for a few weeks and really have trouble finding the mistake and to solve it! Now we finally think that we both found the water leak and managed to hide it!
Oh no! A water leak in the camper!
It started with the fact that we discovered it was wet on the floor in the front The sofa in the camper. Then the camper probably leaned a little forward. Peter, who has been working in the bridge industry for a long time, says that two degrees of slope is sufficient to move the water in a certain direction.
Another day, when the camper probably leaned back a little – then it was wet on the floor in the kitchen. Oh no, a water leak in the camper!
It turned out that the leak was pretty serious. Water had also looked down under The camper and ensured that the wood in a limited small area around the socket rotten for fresh water. We will have to cook and strengthen – but first we have to find the source of the water leak and stop the misery!
Solving and testing problems – where is the leak?
When you have a water leak in a camper, it is not always easy to know where the leak is. There are many water sources and water can find the most beautiful roads through the vehicle. Some options:
- Pipe coupling in kitchen or bathroom
- The Gray Water Tank
- Water -Transferred heat
- Freshwater tank
- Rainwater
The leak appeared during a flowing rain, so first we thought it was rainwater looking for somewhere. Then this didn’t seem to be good at all … Time to seriously solve problem solving!
Peter opened all the cupboards and holes to find something that was wet. He searched and searched, but it was just bent everywhere – under the sink, in the cupboards, under the cupboards … No mood for moisture!
To find the source of the leak, he placed paper towels in many places around pipes and under holes. If a piece of paper gets wet, you know that you are the leak on the tracks! But no, every piece of paper remained 100 percent dry …
It must be the fresh water tank that leaks!
The water pump starts when we put on one of the taps (with a certain sound as a result of this!). If it were a leak after the water pump, the pressure in the pipes would fall and the pump starts to open the taps. This did not happen and then we thought the water leak should lie for The pump. Could it be the fresh water tank that leaked in one way or another?
This also seemed reasonable because water leaked around the tank – for the couch, in the kitchen and during the camper, at the pipe for fresh water with fresh water. We decided to test it all by emptying the freshwater tank. For a few days we lived in the tank without water and only used water on a bottle.
Now it got dry on the floor! It felt like we were on the right track and we decided that the fresh water tank had to be mounted and checked!

Exhaust and repair the freshwater tank
We have reserved half a day for outsourcing and repairing the fresh water tank. The tank must be disconnected from the water pipe and moreover it is ruined with a set of metal bars. So some work!
A number of electrical connections have also been attached to the tank that talk about how full the idea is. We also had to disconnect this, and now it is important to be careful so that it will be fine if everything has to be disconnected! Peter’s tip is to write markings with a pen and also to take a photo.
Eventually the water tank was out and at the same time we had the opportunity to dry up on the bottom of the box!
The majority of the box was powdery, except around the exhaust hole. It was really moist there, which gave us an indication that something could be wrong here.
We lifted the water tank, put it on a table and filled it with water. Now we would test whether it was leaking somewhere! It seemed incredibly solid, but from the exhaust hole, where there is a small rubber seal that you can pull when you can empty the tank, it actually dropped a bit. Drip, drip, a small time … this was probably the mistake!
We have decided to close the exhaust hole completely. Of course you may have to empty the water, for example for winter storage, but we thought we could do it through the water taps. Only we come from the leak!
Oh no! Even water leak in the camper …
We put the fresh water tank back together again and at the first best time we filled it with water. So nice to have water in the cranes again!
The same evening it was soaked on the floor of the camper … How was it possible? Now we were frustrated and tired, but it is just biting in the sour apple. We just had to start again!
New problem solving and testing – where is the leak?
We have opened all the holes and boxes again. Total chaos in the camper! Where is the water leak?
It is the water pump that leaks!
Peter suddenly came up with what it could be. The lack of sound of the pump had made him believe that the leak was lying for The pump, but what if it was the pump itself that leaked? We had not seen anything around the pump, but when he lifted it, he felt a drop of water at the bottom. One drop at the same time … there will finally be a lot of water!
Repair the water pump
When we found the water leak, we felt a big step closer to the solution. But of course it was time to assemble and cook the water pump. Again, Peter wants to point out the importance of photographing everything, so that you know how to replace it. Moreover, red and black coupling should never touch each other (then it is briefly combined) and therefore one must be admitted.
When we had the water pump in our hand, it was even easier to see the water leak. In a place where the pump is screwed together, water dropped.
We decided to try to cook the leak by carefully opening, inserting sealing materials and tensioning it again. After the recommendation of a construction trade in Sardinia, we bought “Anti -Scuff -Pasta for hydraulic fittings”. Peter stuck a little and screwed as hard as possible.
On the outside he also sealed with silicone. We don’t want a single drop of water to throw away!
The result: how is our water leaks in the camper?
We have filled the water tank again and we have used water from the cranes for a few days. No water on the floor! Great! We think we stopped the water leak, which feels fantastic.
We have a somewhat limited area under the car that is damaged. We have to dry this out well and then repair and strengthen. We hope that we have now solved a problem that has been with us for a long time!
