Tanveer Sangha grabs a screamer to send Josh Inglis back
Thunder’s fieldwork then lit up the spotlight Daniel Sams delivered a short ball on middle and leg with 5.3 overs and climbed clumsily onto Inglis, who was fresh from being released from the Test squad for this outing. Being tight for space, Inglis slid a top edge high to deep square leg, where Sangha sprinted in, dived full length and picked a blinder inch from the turf to send the Scorchers keeper-batsman back for 13 off nine balls.
That wicket left Scorchers reeling at 34 for three, with openers Mitchell Marsh (6) and Find Allen (11) has already disappeared, confirming Thunder’s bold coin toss decision amid predictions of a high-scoring deck. Sangha’s athleticism, endlessly echoed online, changed momentum before Turner’s attack got the innings going again.

Ashton Turner falls short of a century mark as the Perth Scorchers post a huge total
Perth Scorchers found their spark after a slow start and it was skipper Ashton Turner who lit up the night with a breathtaking counterattack. When drinks were consumed midway, Perth was teetering at 86 for three, but Turner had other ideas. He immediately switched gears and charged into the bowling with a fearless display of clean hitting. His half-century came from just 22 balls, filled with a mix of crisp boundaries and towering sixes, as the momentum swung sharply in Perth’s favour.
Turner first put things aside Cooper Connollyand the pair pushed the score past 100 before accelerating further. Even after the wickets fell, the Scorchers never lost the pace. Turner continued the attack with Aaron Hardiehammering the bowlers on all counts and ensuring Perth finished with a formidable total. Thunder did manage to hit back through Sams, who took four wickets in the meantime Shadab Khan made a crucial breakthrough. Yet Turner’s innings was the story of the evening, cruelly ending on 99 as Perth surged to 202 for eight, leaving Thunder in a stiff chase under the Sydney lights.
