[WATCH] T20 World Cup 2026: Gautam Gambhir hosts dinner for Team India players ahead of Namibia clash

With India’s Group A campaign already underway following a gritty opening win over the USA, the Men in Blue touched down in the national capital ahead of their second match against Namibia at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on February 12.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, members of the Indian team can be seen arriving at Gambhir’s residence where they are greeted by the coach and his family. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik PandyaAbhishek Sharma, among others, were present on the occasion.

This is not the first time Gambhir has hosted the team in his hometown during his coaching stint. He hosted a dinner for the team during the home Test series against West Indies last year.

The Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav revealed his conversation with the coach after team India’s win over USA. The right-hander was joined by the coach during his innings against USA at the Wankhede Stadium and he had a chat with Yadav.

“I always felt there was a need for a batsman who would bat till the end. I never felt it was a 180-190 wicket. I felt it was a 140 wicket. But then Gauti Bhai told me the same thing during the break after 14 overs. He told me, ‘Just try to bat till the end; you can cover it anytime’,” Suryakumar said during the post-match presentation.

The Mumbai batsman was also named Player of the Match for his excellent innings that rescued his team from a tough situation.
