Rep. Ilhan Omar dodged and began attacking President Donald Trump when CNN asked him about claims that Tuesday’s apple cider vinegar attack on her was staged.
Omar was sprayed with apple cider vinegar in a syringe by Anthony J. Kazmierczak, 55, during a town hall event on Tuesday.
Kazmierczak has been charged with forcibly assaulting, obstructing, obstructing, and intimidating an officer and employee of the United States.
After the incident, Trump floated the idea that the congressman may have staged the whole thing.
“No. I don’t think about her. I think she’s a fraud. I really don’t think about that. She probably got herself sprayed, knowing her,” the president told ABC News when asked if he had seen the video of the incident.
Trump continued: “I haven’t seen it. No, no. I hope I don’t have to worry about it.”
During a performance op The Source with Kaitlan Collins on Wednesday evening, Collins asked Omar about Trump’s response.
Collins began, “I mentioned the president’s response where he told ABC News just a few hours after this happened, she probably got sprayed, knowing her.”
“Before you respond, I want to remind everyone that when President Trump was almost assassinated, you responded and said, “We must condemn acts of violence and pray for the victims. May calm and decency prevail. And you said, it was sad to hear the tragedy that had occurred,” the expert continued. “What went through your mind when you heard the president’s response last night?”
Omar responded, “The difference between the president and me is that I was raised as a decent human being, and my faith teaches me to have compassion, and he lacks both of those things.”
“This is a president leading an administration who, when they killed Renee Good, told us she was a domestic terrorist trying to kill federal agents. When they killed Alex Pretti, they told us he was a domestic terrorist brandishing a gun,” Omar continued. “None of these things are true, and they are known to be liars. They have continually told us not to believe our eyes. Fortunately, both murders were caught on camera, and so was what happened to me last night, caught on camera.”
Collins asked Omar directly about the claim that it was staged.
Instead of responding to the question of whether or not this was the case, Omar dodged and continued her attacks on Trump.
“Well, I mean, this is also someone who talked about me at his town hall in Iowa, and then seems to exhibit a form of dementia when he says he’s not thinking about me. Maybe it’s time for us to invoke the 25th Amendment, because he certainly can’t remember what he said and did an hour ago,” Omar said.
