Pakistan’s decision to skip their big match against India, without specifying detailed reasoning, has left the cricket world in limbo. The Pakistan Cricket Board, in turn, has also received a strong response from the ICC.
India will start their T20 World Cup campaign on February 7 against USA at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. This will be Gambhir’s second ICC assignment as India coach, having previously won the Champions Trophy in 2025.
‘Was ICC asleep?’ – Kamran Akmal’s strong response to the ICC
Pakistani wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal has condemned the ICC while supporting Pakistan’s decision to boycott the match against India, citing the 2025 Asia Cup.
“PCB should not back down! The ICC has directed the Pakistan Cricket Board to reconsider its stand on boycotting the India game. Was the ICC asleep when the Asia Cup was held in the hybrid model? Was the ICC asleep when India said it would not play the Champions Trophy in Pakistan and would play only at a neutral venue? How many times has Pakistan played in India despite heightened tensions between the two countries. I went myself,” Akmal said on his YouTube channel.
India and Pakistan played three times in the 2025 Asia Cup, with the Men in Blue emerging victorious each time.
