Rizwan, who came into bat after the dismissal of Jake Fraser-McGurk, could never get going while at the crease. He struggled to time the ball and there were several instances where the wicketkeeper-batsman was unable to punish poor deliveries to the fence.
The decision came from the Renegades camp at the end of the 18th over, when skipper Will Sutherland signaled Rizwan to force his way out of the ground in what was clearly a strategic move by the team looking to look capitalistic in the last few overs. However, Sutherland was unable to make the most of his opportunity, dropping out for a single on one throw.
Renegades from Melbourne eventually finished 170/8 in 20 overs after being invited to bat first, with Hassan Khan top-scoring with 46 off 31, including one four and four sixes. For the Thunder, Wes Agar was the most impressive bowler, with figures of 2/23 in four overs, while David Willey and Ryan Hadley also took two each.
Rizwan has not had the best of times with the bat in the ongoing BBL as he has gone past 30 runs only twice in eight innings. Speaking of the Renegades’ campaign so far, they have played seven matches and have only managed to win three so far. Interestingly, the Thunder are the only team to have an inferior record, winning just one of eight games so far.
