Wanted: Koper to breathe new life into former Edithburgh School – realestate.com.au

Various former SA schools have come on the market in the past year and proved popular with potential buyers, but one is detained in the dark.

Despite the position of the area ownership in a popular tourist city on the coast, it was surprisingly difficult to sell, running away on the market for more than a year.

The former Edithburgh Primary School, a land package of 12,120 m² surrounded by a picturesque golf course and only a few moments of the sea, is supplied with beautiful character brick buildings, indoor and outdoor basketball courts and its own playground.

Harcourts Sheppard Selling agent Nicholas Josipovic said it was ideal for lifestyle buyers, developers or people who wanted to start a tourist accommodation company.

One of the many former South Australian schools that are currently for sale, Mr. Josipovic said that interest in Lot 615 Giles TCe had been disappointingly slow.

He gave the location the debt-accident two and a half hours drive from Adelaide-Even if potential competition from the Edithburgh Caravan Park for the lack of a sale.

“If this was closer to Adelaide, I would have been able to sell it in five to six weeks – not a year,” said Mr. Josipovic.

“It is a fairly unusual property because it does not fit into a conventional residential class (of real estate) and it is not the normal commercial so … There is uncertainty about what (potential buyers) can do with it.

“But it is a brilliant block. There is more than 12,000 m² of land and you are surrounded by the golf course, so it is very well positioned and you are just a few hundred meters from the Ocean front.

“I believe it must be (used for) accommodation of the Caravan Park type. It is one of the best places on the Yorke peninsula.”

The Edithburgh Primary School, built in 1913, once flourished with 200 students, who served a city that used to be the third largest port of the state, send salt, lime and plaster to Adelaide.

But when the last school siren sounded in 2016, there were only nine registrations and the site was sold three years later by the state government to the current seller.

Josipovic said it was bought “for a song”, with real estate records with the supplier -based supplier paid $ 473,000.

He said that a gymnasium, which included a full-sized basketball court, was built only a short time before the school’s closure was built for a cost of approximately $ 1 million.

“(The seller) bought it because he thought it was a bargain – to get everything (gym and other buildings) it was very, very cheap,” said Mr. Josipovic.

While the seller had stayed in the building for short periods, Mr. Josipovic said he now wanted to sell it for around $ 1.5 million.

He said that it was initially hoped that the existing Caravan Park could buy the property for overflow bookings, but nothing had been attacked.

Edithburgh, the home base of around 520 permanent residents, is considered one of the best diving places in Australia and is also popular for fishing and swimming.

In addition to other educational facilities that are mentioned for sale, the former Glossop High School, in the Riverland, recently changed ownership for more than $ 1.1 million, while the former Glossop Primary School and Kindergarten were broken up for $ 280,000.

The old Tarpeena Primary School, which was closed in 2011 and has since been converted into a house, is currently mentioned with a price manual of $ 1,125 million to $ 1,145 million.

In the Adelaide Hills, the former Houghton Primary School, which was closed in 2014, is also on the market for an unprecedented amount.
