The leading armor racing stable of the North Island starts looking south.
Man and wife Team Michelle Wallis and Bernie Hackett last night brought their 400th victory together with a Double in Alexandra Park.
They are also 10 victories free from Ray Green and Nathan Delany at the premiership of the Trainer of North Island. They trained 39 winners compared to Green and Delany’s 29 after the last pair also trained a double on Friday evening.
The Wallis/Hackett Barn has their best training strike ever and are already more than $ 600,000 in commitment with a stacked calendar at the back of the season to set up.
“It’s going great and we are a bit surprised about the numbers,” says Wallis.
On Friday they won an early trot with Mad Mary, who looks a very progressive marefish, although someone who is not postponed for races such as the stakes of the Sires, so that she will stay closer to home.
But the winner of the most important proud Belle Neige of Friday evening (Love you) will at least be nominated for races such as the Dominion on Cup Day.
“We will nominate two or three and make our decisions later,” she said Hrnz.
“We thought of some of the mares races with her in the south, but she would probably get large handicaps.
“But if she keeps improving, she could dispute some of those good trips, I mean how else do you discover how good they are?”
Belle Neige sprinted like a good trotter while she wiped her rivals on Friday evening in the hands of Wallis’s daughter Crystal, who has her own super season.
Nice repetition snow
She is locked up in her own North Island Premiership struggle with 47 victories for the season, three behind Zachary Butcher on 50 and Harrison Orange with a stunning season with 48 victories.
Remarkably, Butcher and Orange have an almost identical battle speed.
The Pacing Handicap on Friday evening was eliminated by Always Flyin for Graeme Rogerson and driver James Stormont while he got the best and led in a beautifully rated ride.
The last 400m in 27.2 seconds meant that Always Flyin could not be caught, but favorite Mantra Blue did great to get in second place and break for 27 seconds for her last 400m.
Andretti saw the youth event cross and hold with a last 400m of 27.6 seconds and he also goes to the south in the spring as part of the Purdon team.
