New media reports have emerged again claiming that Chelsea are looking to sign Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rodgers when the summer transfer window opens in just a few months’ time.
Right now, all that talking is going on CHELSEA is about whether the Blues will be able to go on and get back into the Champions League under Liam Rosenior after former boss Enzo Maresca had such a poor start to the Premier League season.
But that hasn’t stopped transfer speculation about players who could come to the club, as there are still a few areas of the pitch that the Blues board would like to improve in the coming weeks of the transfer window.
What’s the latest on Morgan Rodgers?
According to Teamtalk, Chelsea have set their sights on potential transfer deals for two of England’s top young talents in the form of Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers and Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri.
Rogers has long been high on Chelsea’s watchlist, but Chelsea have been unable to complete a deal for the Villa star as they do not want to meet the £80 million asking price on his head.
What has been said about Rodgers going to Chelsea?
Former Premier League star Emile Heskey recently opened up and claimed Morgan Rodgers would be a fantastic signing for CHELSEA as they look to raid Aston Villa for the midfielder.
Heskey said: ‘It would be interesting because it’s another Manchester City player who might go to Chelsea, but I think he should at least spend another year at Villa.
‘He is doing well, the club is on the rise and they could break into the top four this season. That is a very big challenge and a good one for him.
‘I think if he did go CHELSEAHe could be fantastic, but for Chelsea it might be overkill to buy players for the sake of that money.”
Will Rodgers be open to a move to Chelsea?
Rodgers is brilliant on the ball and so difficult to take away. He is a great player for Aston Villa and they will not want to lose a player so dangerous against almost any defence.
Villa do have some financial problems, but they won’t want to let their best players go otherwise it will be a step back after all the hard work of recent seasons.
And to be honest, Rodgers is really enjoying his time at Villa at the moment and won’t want to leave the club.
COULD ODEGAARD join CHELSEA?
Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has been urged to leave the club this summer as he is no longer an ‘influential’ player for boss Mikel Arteta, who now prefers to play against Eberechi Eze but could do so. CHELSEA Make a move for the midfielder?
Reports circulating in London suggest that should Arsenal open the door to a move, several top teams would be keeping a close eye on the situation. While there has been no indication of formal interest yet, the prospect of a big midfielder becoming available has inevitably sparked speculation.
For now, sources close to Arsenal claim Ødegaard remains central to the club’s long-term project. The Norwegian has repeatedly stated that he is happy in north London, and his leadership role – both on and off the pitch – has been fundamental to Mikel Arteta’s rebuild. ARSENALThe presidential hierarchy considers him non-transferable unless extraordinary circumstances arise.
But that hasn’t stopped CHELSEA of monitoring the situation. Under their current ownership, Chelsea have consistently focused on technically gifted midfield profiles with a high work rate, who can slot into a possession-dominant system. Ødegaard, at the height of his creative influence and nearing what many consider his prime, fits that mold perfectly.
Would Odegaard actually make the switch to Chelsea?
Several barriers make transmission unlikely. First, there is the rivalry. Direct transfers between Arsenal and Chelsea have happened before, but they have rarely involved a captain or a player seen as a symbol of a long-term project.
The political weight of such a deal would be enormous, and Arsenal would likely command a prohibitive asking price. Chelsea’s previous willingness to pay premiums may not be enough if the selling club has no intention of selling at all.
Secondly, Ødegaard’s current role at Arsenal gives him a level of tactical freedom and responsibility that Chelsea, who are still stabilizing under new management and a young squad, may not be able to match at the moment. Moving to a club that is still defining its identity can be seen as a step towards uncertainty.
From Ødegaard’s perspective, Chelsea’s appeal would depend on several factors: guaranteed Champions League football, a clear sporting project and guarantees about his role. At the moment, none of these are certainties at Stamford Bridge.
While CHELSEAThe company’s interest signals their continued push to add elite quality, the likelihood of which ARSENAL The farewell to their captain – especially from a local rival – remains limited.
Unless there is a drastic shift this summer, Ødegaard’s move to Chelsea looks more like a speculative transfer talk than a plausible move.
VLAHOVIC WILL BE INTERESTED IN CHELSEA’S MOVE
There have been some new media reports claiming that Chelsea are hoping to sign Dusan Vlahovic from Juventus on a free transfer at the end of the season, and that he could be open to a move to England, according to Iomie Stanley.
Although Vlahovic has been a key player for Juventus last season, scoring 64 goals in 162 games, the Italian side are keen to shed his club-high wages of £350,000 per week.
Clubs across Europe are alert to Vlahovic’s situation and the TMW website reports that Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea have contacted the player’s representatives about a possible move to the Premier League in the summer.
Vlahovic was free to negotiate a pre-contract deal with foreign parties in January, but that obviously didn’t happen, but reports say the London duo are fighting for his signature. AC Milan are also keen and confident of a deal, despite Vlahovic’s interest in a move to England
And according to reporter Stanley, he could be interested in a mega-money transfer to England, telling icfootballnews: ‘Dušan Vlahović is a powerful centre-forward known for his physical presence, aerial ability and eye for goal – qualities that could suit the intensity of the Premier League.
‘With a strong record in the Italian top flight, Vlahović would add a proven goalscorer to Chelsea’s attack, something the Blues have lacked consistency in recently. He has also played in the top competitions and the Champions League, giving him a maturity that can help a young Chelsea front line.
‘This combination of attributes means he can immediately challenge for a starting role, especially in games where Chelsea need a focal point up front or a plan B for more creative attackers.
‘A free transfer for Dušan Vlahović could be a smart strategic signing CHELSEA – but only if the club integrates him well and balances his role in the team.
‘He’s not the transformative figure who can single-handedly guarantee 20-plus goals a season, but his physicality, Serie A experience and finishing ability add a useful dimension to Chelsea’s attack.
‘And the fact that he would be paid more than the £300,000 a week he gets at Juventus, he would be more than open to a move to Chelsea’
