Virat Kohli was brutally roasted online after failing in back-to-back ODIs against Australia. He has been compared to Pakistan’s Saim Ayub, who also scored back-to-back ducks during their 2025 Asia Cup campaign.
On his return to international cricket, Virat Kohli seriously lacked form and looked rusty on both occasions he came to bat during the tour of Australia. With a duck at Optus Stadium in Perth and another duck in Adelaide where he scored a plethora of runs, Kohli seemed to have given up and decided to hang up his boots towards the end of the tour.
In an appreciative gesture, he waved to the crowd in Adelaide, but there is speculation that Kohli may have been hinting at a retirement, and the farewell was meant for all his fans around the world as he stepped foot on the field for the last time in international cricket.

Virat Kohli roasted for consecutive ducks in Australia
Kohli had tragically come under fire on the online platform after the legend missed one run since his return to international cricket. In an attempt to flick Xavier Bartlett, Kohli was found just in front of the stumps and dismissed again for a duck.
After this dismissal, he had to endure comparisons with Pakistani youngster Saim Ayub, who went on to score three times in three consecutive matches for Pakistan in the 2025 Asia Cup.
One of social media’s most quirky and witty trolls watched Icelandic Cricket take aim at the legend as their post read: “Looks like Virat Kohli has been watching Saim Ayub’s coaching videos.”

The former Australian doesn’t want Virat Kohli to give up his hunger for runs
Former Australian legend Ricky Ponting, who has been linked with Indian cricket through the IPL, wants Virat Kohli to return from Australia with some positivity and as much form as possible. Kohli has gained widespread respect and was excellently received by the Australian spectators and also by the Australian players.
Ponting has insisted that he wants to see Kohli’s hunger and not rest on his previous innings, especially with so much talk about the veteran’s place in the Indian squad for the next World Cup.
“I think you still have to have some short-term goals and not just keep trying to get to the 2027 World Cup,” Ponting said in the ICC Review.
Rohit Sharma ‘not going anywhere’, former skipper got World Cup spot after stunning 73 in Adelaide
Former Indian player Mohammed Kaif has backed Indian skipper Rohit Sharma for scoring runs for India. Rohit returned to great form and showed that class is permanent under tough batting conditions in Adelaide.
He was unfortunately dismissed for 73, ending the 118-run stand alongside India’s stalwart middle-order Shreyas Iyer. After the innings, Kaif made a special mention of the Indian captain’s long stay in the line-up.
