Bleacher Report recommends John Johnson for Vikings
BR’s Moe Moton published an article last week, with details about one movement that each NFL team should make with summer operations that are going on. For the Vikings, Johnson got the nod as a possible addition of free agent.
Moton explained“In safety, the Vikings Harrison Smith and Josh Metellus in starting places and not much behind them. Fourth-year veteran Theo Jackson and third-year Pro Jay Ward have combined 285 career-defensive snaps.”
“Johnson has experience at both safety positions, and he can also accept assignments in the slot machine. Last September he ran a hairline fracture in his Scapula. Now Healthy, the 29-year-old can play several roles.”
Many NFL experts also suspected that Minnesota would choose a safety early in the design six weeks ago, but general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah waved by choosing the offensive guard of Ohio State Donovan Jackson instead.
Who is John Johnson?
Johnson is a 29-year safety with eight years of NFL experience. Injuries derailed his 2024 campaign in Los Angeles, but in general the man played 109 games.
Here is his destination CV:
- Los Angeles Rams (2017–2020)
- Cleveland Browns (2021–2022)
- Los Angeles Rams (2023–2024)
Johnson became Pro on the same day that the Vikings Dalvin Cook set up in 2017.
This is the Johnson Pro Football Focus lean:
- 2024: 91.9 (limited snaps)
- 2023: 58.4
- 2022: 62.8
- 2021: 68.7
- 2020: 85.3
- 2019: 53.5
- 2018: 83.6
- 2017: 81.5
And his passerby rating against:
- 2024: 42.7 (limited snaps)
- 2023: 81.1
- 2022: 82.8
- 2021: 70.1
- 2020: 73.2
- 2019: 77.1
- 2018: 81.8
In this late stage of the free agency, the sooning contract from Johnson with a team will be affordable.
The Kevin O’Connell Crossover
Johnson actually drips with ties with leadership of Vikings. While he played defense for the 2020 Rams, Kevin O’Connell coordinated attacking Jared Goff and friends. O’Connell should know Johnson very well.
Then Johnson split for Cleveland just before the Rams won the Super Bowl, and recommend who worked in the front office of Browns in 2021? Kwesi Adofo-Mensah.
More than every team in the competition, in addition to the Rams, the buyer of the Vikings must be familiar with Johnson’s Tool Kit.
Vikings probably on safety
However, the kicker is that Minnesota probably does not need any other safety. Camryn Bynum left for the Indianapolis Colts in March, but Minnesota promoted Theo Jackson to the role of a starter and also shows Harrison Smith and Josh Metellus.
Jay Ward is also looking for a way to wiggle on the field on Sunday.
Signing Johnson or Justin Simmons can amount to summer injuries that everyone would like to avoid.
BR’s recommendations for former Vikings
Moton also insisted on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to sign former Vikings guard Dalton Risner.
He wrote: “In five seasons, Ben Bredeson played for three teams. He is a replaceable left guard. Tampa Bay can find an upgrade in the interior to strengthen the offensive line. Risner is one of the better Passblocking guards in the competition.”
“According to Pro Football FocusHe only allowed one quarterback and zero bags while he was on the field last season for 345 Pass-Blocking Snaps. He would be a solid bodyguard for Baker Mayfield, who threw the fifth passes last year. “
And for ex-vikings cornerback, Shaquill Griffin, Moton Picked the Miami Dolphins: “According to NFL NFLWORK’s Cameron Wolfe, The Dolphins Will part Ways with Cornerback Jalen Ramsey. If That Happens, Miami Warmd Maave A Garing A Garing A Gearing A Gearing A Gearing A Geare AfeAte AfeAte Aleare A. Boundary Cornerbacks Behind Ramsey on the Roster in 2024, Duck Appeared, started in Three, and allows a 100.2 passer -rating.
“Griffin can fill a void in the coverage of the dolphins of the dolphins. Last year he allowed a 75.8 passer -rating and only gave up two touchdowns in a rotation roll at the Minnesota Vikings. He would be the topback of Miami, assuming that the team will continue with Ramsey.”
John Johnson will be 30 in December.
