Armed robbers fled with 185 grams of gold worth RS 18 Lakh, focusing on a jewelry store in the edge of Bengaluru. The masked attackers plundered the Ram Jewelers shop in the Madanayakanahalli area around 8.30 pm on Friday and fleeing the place, the police said.
According to police and eyewitness accounts, the shop owner, Kanhaiya Lal, was preparing to close for the day when three masked men stormed into the store. One of them brought out a gun and endangered Lal and his staff.
The robbers quickly plundered the gold items that were placed on the table and in the display, ignoring Lal’s call for help. A local boy from a nearby store, who hurried to help after hearing the noise, was also pushed aside by the robbers as they made their escape.
Kanaiya Lal said of the robbery: “Around 8.30 pm three perpetrators came in our store, showed a gun and within 30 seconds they took something to see and on the table and then fled. Around 180 to 185 grams of gold was stolen”.
The entire incident was recorded on CCTV installed in the store. The police have secured the images and launched a manhunt to identify and arrest the perpetrators.
For the time being research suggests that the robbery was well planned when the attackers acted quickly and knew exactly where they could find the jewelry.
A case of theft is registered at the Madanayakanahalli police station. The police also interrogate nearby shopkeepers and potential witnesses for leads.
Police teams combs surrounding areas and check local CCTV images in an attempt to trace the escape route and the vehicle of the robbers, if applicable.
Further updates are expected and the research is continuing.
