Vodafone Idea (Vi) launches Vi Protect, an innovative AI-driven initiative to fight spam, scams and cyber threats. Vi Protect was presented at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025 and strengthens security for consumers, business customers and the corporate network. By integrating advanced AI technology, Vi Protect ensures robust protection against fraudulent calls, malicious messages and advanced cyber-attacks, promoting trust and security for millions of users.

Vi Protect: enhanced consumer and network security

Vi Protect introduces two flagship features: an AI-based Voice Spam Detection system for consumers and an upgraded Cyber ​​Defense and Incident Response system for network and enterprise security. The Voice Spam Detection system identifies and flags spam calls in real time using AI models, web crawlers and user feedback. When a suspicious call is detected, a ‘Suspected Spam’ notification appears on the user’s phone, helping them make informed decisions. Unlike third-party apps, this feature works natively within the Vi network, ensuring higher accuracy and privacy.

Vi Protect consolidates several consumer protection instruments, including:

  • Spam filtering for SMS: Detects and flags fraudulent text messages.
  • International calling display: Helps users identify international calls.
  • AI-powered threat analysis: Integrates with Vi’s DNS, SMS, and Voice Gateways to learn from threat patterns.

Vi reports that more than 600 million spam and scam messages have been blocked to date. A future real-time URL protection feature will scan and block suspicious links to prevent phishing and malware.

For network and enterprise security, Vi Protect’s Cyber ​​Defense system uses agentic and generative AI to detect and neutralize threats in less than an hour, with 70% higher accuracy than previous methods. The system follows a five-step process:
