Max Verstappen says that at a certain moment he wants to compete in all major endurance races in Motorsport, including in the top categories at Le Mans and the Rolex 24 in Daytona.
Ford offers technical expertise with regard to the Power Unit from 2026 as part of the coming partnership with Red Bull, and will return to the Hypercar class at Le Mans a year later. Verstappen says that he will keep open to what the new generation of Formula 1 car will be like to drive, but is also motivated by the potential possibilities that the Ford Link could open.
“I think it is important to be a bit in the middle [the 2026 regulations]”Said Verstappen in a Ford Performance video.” From the outside it personally does not look the most exciting, but on the other hand I am also ‘let’s look, wait’. Maybe, frankly, it’s fun.
“I think that of our side is of course what is exciting is that Ford steps with us, and to see how our collaboration can develop. That is certainly the exciting piece.
“Even to this day they are involved in so many racing projects, and of course they come back to Le Mans with a Hypercar. Of course of course [I’d fancy that] – Certainly a hypercar. Of course I like the GT3, you want to do the Nordschleife, the 24 -hour spa, but then the other that you might want to do in the fastest category. “
When racing on Daytona was placed on him, Verstappen repeated: “All. I really want to do them all.”
And Verstappen says that he enjoys the need to change his driving style into what his machines required, adding that his ability to be in F1 quickly is due to that characteristic, instead of a car designed for its strengths.
“I just adapt to what I have. It is not what I like, it is exactly what I have. I am going to try to drive it, because that is the fastest way to go around the track, but it is not what I would like to personally. I would like several pieces from the car.
‘Of course it [feels good to receive praise]But I don’t do it to show people what I am capable of. I just do it to try to be the best yourself. In that sense I am probably quite a perfectionist, it is never good enough. If I can get out of the car and I can say to myself, “That was pretty good,” it’s never good enough, but pretty good …
“I had a few laps that were pretty good. Last year, Jeddah, qualifying, my first run in Q3 I came back in the box and I was like it! I don’t know if I can do this again ‘. And I actually didn’t go faster in the second run, so I couldn’t do it again!”
