CHESTER, Pa.- Anthony Verruso found the winner’s circle twice and Geovany Hernandez later joined the American Harness Drivers Club (AHDC) action at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Sunday (December 7).
Verruso posted a 1:58 win with 1-5 favorite Big Limo in the only $7,500 AHDC Trot. After taking command from a three-wide push to a :28.1 first quarter, Big Limo continued to command a commanding lead through middle fractions of :57.2 and 1:26.2. He came in for a confident score by 2-3/4 lengths, while Big Charlie Moran (driven by Tony Beltrami) rallied in second. My Big Kadillac (Mike Polansky) took third, another six lengths behind, while pocket sitter Big Nudge (Dante Scattolini) tired to fourth.

A few races later, Verruso delivered a more expensive shot when he landed Iammrbrightside N first on the line in a 1:58.2 mile in the first of two AHDC pacing divisions. Verruso found a place in third place as 9-5 favorite Drinkin Again (Geovany Hernandez) took the lead from Lenda Hand Man (Matt Zuccarello). Drinkin Again upped the pace to a half of :57.1 before Verruso brought Iammrbrightside N into a first-over attack. Iammrbrightside N drew level with Drinkin Again through three quarters in 1:26.2 and hung on for the final quarter-mile on the edge to cross the finish line as the winner by a length. Lenda Hand Man came in second, Thndrfrmthethron N (Tony Beltrami) moved from second to third and Bettor Be Oscar A (Dante Scattolini) closed for fourth.
IAMMRBRIGHTSIDE N-REPEAT

Geovany Hernandez bounced back in the final AHDC division after tough trips in the other two splits when he defeated his competition with 4-5 favorite Lew Hauber in the second pacing split with a distance of 1:55 miles. He immediately launched forward, opening a three-length lead in a:27 first quarter, and continued his mission of speed that only extended his lead. After a half of :55.3, Lew Hauber pulled 10 lengths ahead of his rivals, clocking three-quarters in 1:24 before finishing in hand. A Stud Named Sam (Tony Beltrami) closed for second, beaten twelve lengths, while Bungalow Bill N (Philip Kozak) rallied for third and Try Line (Charles Longo) finished last for fourth.
LEW HAUBER-REPEAT
Hernandez owns and trains Lew Hauber, a 3-year-old gelding by Sweet Lou. He paid $3.60 to win.
AHDC action resumes next Sunday (December 14) at Harrah’s Philadelphia, with pacing and trotting divisions scheduled. The post time for the first race at Harrah’s Philadelphia is 12:40 PM (EST).
