India National Cricket Team mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy is known for his calm and cool demeanor and is not one to give batters a farewell after dismissing them.

However, a different version of Varun Chakravarthy was seen during the second T20I between India National Cricket Team and South Africa National Cricket Team at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, New Chandigarh.

The mystery spinner is currently the No. 1 bowler in the ICC T20I Rankings, and he once again showed why he is the best with his performance in the second match against the Proteas.

Varun Chakravarthy took a wicket on the very first ball he bowled in the match and went on to record figures of 4-0-29-2 on a batting-friendly track.

He was also involved in a fiery battle with South African skipper Aiden Markram during the innings. Varun Chakravarthy and Aiden Markram came face to face during the 12th over.

On the second ball of the over, Markram sent the Indian spinner to a six from 77 yards and then followed it up with another six over long-on.

Chakravarthy managed a good comeback as he then bowled back-to-back dot balls before dismissing Aiden Markram on the sixth ball for 29 runs. The spinner got pumped up after getting the wicket and threw expletives in a fiery send-off at the batsman.

Varun Chakravarthy gives Aiden Markram an explosive farewell

There isn’t much cricket played internationally, so we would have bowled first: Aiden Markram

During the toss, Proteas skipper Aiden Markram stated that they want to learn lessons from the losses and move forward in the right direction. He explained:

“We would have done the same. It looked like a pretty good wicket. There isn’t a lot of cricket played internationally so we would have bowled first. But having said that, we can put some runs on the board early on and hopefully we can get them under some pressure.

“There are always lessons to be learned, but I don’t think you want to dive too deep into it. Be at peace with the fact that we can have nights like that, and unfortunately we had that in the first game. But tonight there is an opportunity for us to do well and make some steps. I think that’s where most of the focus is. I haven’t thought about that to be honest.”

“I’m not too sure yet. We’ll get feedback after the first few balls are over and kind of plan it from there. But yeah, I’m hoping to get a good start, build some good partnerships tonight, and it gives us a good chance to put up a good total. Not because of the pitch, but just from a rotation perspective, we have three changes: Stubbs, Maharaj and Nortje are out, Reeza, Linde and Baartman are in.”
