I don’t know what’s going on, it just happens – Quinton de Kock

Quinton de Kock won the Player of the Match award for his heroics and said after the match that he was prepared for the challenge that Arshdeep Singh brings. He explained:

“Yeah, tell me about it. I don’t know what’s going on, it just happens. I think that’s it, when I go out to bat, I try to make it count. That’s pretty much what it is, literally. Look, I just think it’s because we play each other so much. And we always play on good wickets, especially here at home.

“That’s literally what it comes down to. Not really. Look, the guy (Arshdeep Singh) has gotten me out of it a lot of times, I’m sure. And it always seems to be the same way. So I guess it was just a technical thing that I had to pay attention to, and then it would progress naturally. That’s pretty much all it comes down to. I think the wicket at the front was a little slow, it felt like it took some time to come to the bat. When we were batting, every new batsman a little harder to get in. The ball didn’t feel like it was wet; it still felt dry.

“So it was just a matter of sticking with myself and Aiden (Markram) and trying to build a partnership because it wasn’t going to be easy for the next guy coming in. And when the Indian team batted, it went the other way. It got two tempos with a bit more tempo in it, it sped up and everything was moving at pace. When we batted, it was moving quite slowly. So that’s really the difference between the conditions in the two innings.”
