Elliotte Friedman: “So one of the things I thought was maybe something would happen with it soon Kiefer Sherwoodbecause he is an unrestricted free agent. He’s a really good player. He’s a salaryman anyone can handle. And I thought there would be a lot of interest in it. And I was told today that it doesn’t look like it will necessarily be anytime soon. Conor Garland not playing tonight (Saturday evening). That’s injury related. Before anyone draws conclusions, it is assumed that it is not serious, but he is not playing, not because of a trade, but because of injuries.
But the thing is, I think there are a number of teams that are very interested. I think teams like Minnesota, Boston, possibly Philadelphia and others. But when I called around, I didn’t get the sense that anything was imminent from Vancouver, and they are more than happy to take their time to just see what the market is like and wait if necessary. And again, the goal is to get younger. Everyone knows they want to get younger, and they will wait until they get something they like.
MacLean: They’re still quite young, but Quinn HughesNothing.”
Friedman: “I knew you were going to ask me that, like you’re always going to ask me every week, Quinn Hughes, nothing.”
NHL Rumors: Edmonton Oilers, Vancouver Canucks and Toronto Maple Leafs
NHL Rumors.com Note: Again, the Canucks don’t have too many players who are easily moveable. Kiefer Sherwood has the most interest. Jimmy Murphy of RG Media stated that the Boston Bruins, Detroit Red Wings and Buffalo Sabers are interested in Sherwood. Rick Dhaliwal said you can add the Minnesota Wild to that list as well. As for Conor Garland, expect the Boston Bruins to target him again.
