British actor Norman Eshley, best known for George and Mildred, died at the age of 80.
He died on 2 August in Gloucestershire Royal Hospital with his wife Rachel Eshley by his side, after a fight with cancer.
“It is with great sadness that I have to announce the death of our customer actor Norman Eshley,” said his agent Thomas Bowington.
‘[He was] A warm, friendly and grounded man with a great voice that I will miss, don’t hear it anymore over the phone. ‘
Rachel said: “I will be grateful for the great times we have shared forever,” she said.
“He was my husband and best friend and my heart will always be with him.”
Eshley was born in 1945 in Bristol and completed his training as an actor at Bristol Old Vic Theater School.
He started his career in Shakespearean -theater pieces and later performed in West End Productions.
He made his film debut in the drama of Orson Welles from 1968 The immortal story and to be seen in TV programs such as Canterbury Tales, And WarshipHe followed life in the Royal Navy on board the fictional ship HMS Hero.
