On Wednesday 27 August, the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) officially announced the T20i team of the National Cricket team of the VAE for the upcoming Tri series at home.
The experienced Batsman Muhammad Wasem is mentioned as the captain and he will lead the 15-person team in the Tri series against Pakistan and Afghanistan.
T20i Tri series to help the teams prepare for Asia Cup 2025
The T20i series between the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan and Afghanistan is planned to help the teams prepare well for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025.

Asia Cup is played in the T20 format from 9 to 28 September in the United Arab Emirates, and a total of eight teams – India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, United Arab Emirates, Oman and Hong Kong – will participate in the tournament.
Vae and Pakistan are placed in group A, while Afghanistan is in group B in the competition. The Tri-Series opener will be played on August 29 between Afghanistan and Pakistan, followed by the second game between the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan on August 30.
Then Afghanistan vs Vae, Afghanistan vs Pakistan, Pakistan versus Vae and Afghanistan vs vae will be planned for 1, 2, 2, 4 and 5 and 5. The final of the Tri-Series will be held on 7 September at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, which organizes all matches of the series.

United Arab Emirates ringing in the changes in the team
The Muhammad Wasem – guided team has four new faces – Harshit Kaushik, Junaid Siddique, Muhammad Farooq and Muhammad Jawadullah – from their previous assignment, such as Akif Raja, Matiullah Khan and Zuhaib Zubair have been omitted.
Junaid Siddique, Muhammad Farooq and Muhammad Jawadullah have already attracted the VAE sweater in international cricket, but Harshit Kauhik still has to make his debut.
Pacers Siddique (59 ODIs and 71 T20is) and Jawadullah (12 ODIs and 33 T20is) have good experience in their bag and would be looking for good performance against Aghans and the men in Green. Been-Spinning Allrounder Farooq also played eight T20Is and two odis for his country.
Unlike that, the United Arab Emirates team consists of the familiar faces that are already part of the line-up for a considerable period.
Accompanied by head coach Lalchand Rajput and skipper Muhammad Wasem, Team United Arab Emirates would be looking for a strong performance in the series to get some momentum on their way to the Tent Asia Cup 2025.
