February is here. Flora woke up last night feeling a little warm with a fever. Little beloved Flora. While it’s really fun when she’s an extra cuddly sick kid, it’s easy to miss the usual bubbly Flora bouncing around and having so many projects. I think about the first time she sang with words the other day. Suddenly she was singing along with Lilla Snigel. Be careful, be careful.
Recently, after going to sleep, I lay in the bedroom in the dark and listened to Flora’s breathing. There’s nothing better than kissing her head and breathing in her scent. Don’t scroll on your mobile, just lie down. And think. Feeling. I think I wrote hundreds of texts or blog posts while lying like this. It’s so hard to capture them just in black and white.
February is almost over. The dryer that was well used in January. I started working full time. Leave, pick up, shop, wash, bathe, play, repair and donate. That’s right – work too. And practice. And agree on days and times with your partner. So many things to do in the daily puzzle, and so much fun, and so little time. I think of that expression: what did we always do with time before we had children? So really – what have we done?
My mother was visiting here this weekend. Momo, as Flora says. We drank coffee and mostly played and woke up Sunday to snow and sunshine, so we went sledding. Flora says, “one, toe, tee,” and then she laughs as the sled is pulled away. Protests when I have to pull the sled and points to Momo. Certain. Momo will pull the sled. I think my mother is a grandmother now, because I am a mother.
