For my part, I can only heartily recommend Don’t just talk about your design process. Tell stories about the impact that your design work has produced. Frame your design work as a possibilities of business goals and user needs. And take insights into the impact you have produced – on business goals, processes, team culture, planning, estimates and tests.

30 useful questions to ask in UX job interviews

Nati Asher suggested in her beautiful article Many useful questions To ask in a job interview when you sign up as an UX candidate. I have taken the freedom to revise some of them and added a few more questions that might be worth considering For your next job interview.

  1. What are the Biggest challenges The team is currently confronted?
  2. What are the most important of the team strong and weaknesses?
  3. What are the Properties and skills That will make me successful in this position?
  4. Where will the company go in the next 5 years?
  5. What are the achievements I have to strive for the First 90 days?
  6. Why would you think: “I am so happy that we have hired X!”?
  7. Do you have one Doubts or worries Regarding my fit for this position?
  8. Does the team have a budget for education, research, etc.?
  9. What is the process of give on board In the team?
  10. Who is in the team and how long have they been in that team?
  11. That are the most important stakeholders I will work daily?
  12. What options do you have for user research and access to users or data?

For a job interview, Keep your questions ready. They will not only convey a message that you care about the process and culture, but also that you understand what is needed to be successful. And this nice detail can go a long way.

Don’t forget the star method

Interviewers who are closer to the business community expect you to present examples of your work using the Star -Method (Situation – Task – Action – Result), and can be completely confused if you delve into all the fine details of your ideas process or the choice of UX methods you used.

  • Situation: Set the scene and give the necessary details.
  • Task: Explain your responsibilities in that situation.
  • Action: Explain which steps you have taken to tackle it.
  • Result: Share the results that have achieved your promotions.

As Meghan suggests, the interview is about How to add your skills to the problem The company is currently resolved. So ask about the current problems and tasks. Interview The person who also interviews you – but also explain who you are, your focus areas, your passion points and how you and your expertise fit into a product and in the organization.

A final comment on my side: NEVER TAKE Personal rejection. Very often the reasons are why you are given for rejection only a small part of a much larger image – and have almost nothing to do with you. It is possible that a job description was not completely accurate, or that the company undergoes restructuring, or the finances are too tight.

Don’t despair and keep going. Write down your expectations. Tax titles are important: Be deliberately about them and your level of seniority. Prepare good references. Keep your questions ready for that interview. As Catt Small says: “Once you have a foot in the door, you have to open it wide”.

You are a clear radiant star – you never forget that.
