Forty thousand copies of the original comic book that must be given for free during US Open Fan Week 18-23 August
Flushing, NY, 14 August 2025 – The USTA today announced that the US Open and Marvel will continue their monumental cooperation for a second consecutive year by defending this year’s US Open – 75 years of Breekbarres – with a new and original Four Four book that Althea Gibson and the Fantastic. More than 40,000 printed copies of the comic book are published for free to fans during the US Open Fan Week, held on August 18-23 in the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY
The original comic book follows the Fantastic Four as they learn about Gibson’s life and career and the inheritance she inspired while breaking the color barrier of tennis at the US Open from 1950, before they go back to Rug Wimbledon and US Open Singles titles and one of the most legendary figures in tennis. The story then follows the inspired Fantastic Four to the US Open, where they channel Gibson to overcome an ‘impossible’ challenge for the courts of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
Print copies of the comic book are published for free to fans who have registered for Fan Access Pass, where 6,000 books are given away every day from Monday to Friday from the US Open Fan Week, and the remaining copies that are given away on Arthur Ashe Kids Day on Saturday 23 August. week
