USGP sets new viewership record on ABC | RACER

ABC’s live broadcast of Sunday’s Formula 1 United States Grand Prix from the Circuit of The Americas attracted the largest-ever US television audience for the event as an average of 1.5 million viewers tuned in to the racing portion of the broadcast. Viewership was up 14 percent over last year’s racing viewership, based on Nielsen Big Data + Panel data.

The audience marked the season’s 12th viewership record across 19 F1 races, with all but two of the 19 experiencing audience growth year-on-year. Viewership peaked at 1.6 million between 4.15pm and 4.30pm as Max Verstappen cruised to victory, further tightening the battle for the F1 Drivers’ Championship with just five races remaining in the season.

The race broadcast, which ran from 3:00 PM to 4:45 PM ET, also averaged 539,000 viewers in the 18-49 age group, a 10 percent increase over last year’s race.

All but two races this season (Miami, Singapore) have seen viewership increase year-on-year and 12 of the 19 (Australia, China, Monaco, Spain, Canada, Austria, Great Britain, Belgium, Netherlands, Italy, Azerbaijan, USGP) scored record event crowds.

Across ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC, F1 races attract an average of 1.3 million viewers, ahead of the US television record of 1.21 million set in 2022.

F1 has another shot at big numbers on a free-to-air network this weekend with the Mexico City Grand Prix on Sunday, October 26 on ABC, starting at 3:55pm ET.
