The 2026 US Women’s Open will be held for the first time ever at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California, and if you want to be part of the championship’s illustrious history, now is your chance to choose from 26 different qualifying locations released by the USGA on Wednesday.
Unlike the US Open, which requires a two-part qualifying match for the men (18-hole local and 36-hole final), US Women’s Open hopefuls compete in just one 36-hole qualifying match to determine their fate.
The 26 eligible locations are spread across 17 states, with one location each in Canada, England and Japan. Qualifying will take place between April 20 and May 13, 2026. Online registration applications are now open, with a deadline of Wednesday, April 1 at 5:00 PM ET. To play, participants must be professionals or have a handicap index not higher than 2.4. Hopefuls can register to be considered at champs.usga.org.
While winning the US Women’s Open as a qualifier is extremely unlikely, it has happened before. Birdie Kim won the US Women’s Open at Cherry Hills Country Club in Colorado in 2005 after going through qualifying. And at last year’s U.S. Women’s Open at Erin Hills in Erin, Wisconsin, there were a total of 11 qualifiers who ultimately made it to the finish line, including Hailee Cooper, who finished in seventh place.
