USGA is launching a new internship program with PGA Tour, Pebble Beach, other golf entities

In his latest urge to extend paths to Golf, the USGA announced a new internship program on Wednesday in collaboration with eight other major golf entities, including the PGA Tour and LPGA.

The Launch Program is designed to “broaden the pipeline of the future leaders of Golf,” said a press release from USGA. The three-month internship will take ungradued and graduated students who have shown a construction for leadership and wish to work in Golf or Sport and to place them in one of the nine golf organizations, companies or resorts. The program will focus on leadership training, mentorship and the development of hard skills.

“We can do more together than we can do alone, and we are building on an already successful path model to open the opportunity for more people,” said USGA CEO Mike Whan in the release. “These rising professionals, every organization and ultimately the game all benefit from this next step forward, and we are grateful that everyone involved has embraced their vision.”

The program will place interns with companies that touch every aspect of golf, from merchandise and hospitality to professional tournaments and fan involvement.

Here are the nine entities that participate in the Pathways Launch Program:

  • Pebble Beach Company
  • Pinehurst Resort and Country Club
  • PGA from America
  • Dick’s Sporting Goods/Golf Galaxy
  • Golf
  • Top Golf Callaway brands

Every intern receives an hourly wage that is funded by the USGA and other participating organizations. Trainees can also get help with the costs of housing to open the door for applicants who would otherwise not apply. The internships give students first -hand experience in the field and offer networking opportunities.

The Pathways Launch Program was developed from the USGA’s Pathways program, which was launched in 2022 in the Country Club in Brookline, Mass. It is the newest step in the investment of the USGA in the growth of the next generation of leadership in Golf, with a view to giving more opportunities for golf cariers to people from all backgrounds.

“The energy and interest in Golf have never been higher, thanks to this incredible community of players, volunteers and colleagues who work with us every day to introduce more people to the game,” said USGA president Fred Perpall. “It is because of the success of these efforts that we can take another step together and leave an inheritance that will have permanent impact.”

The applications for the launch of the paths are now open and close on November 14. Finalists are invited to a recruitment event at the USGA headquarters in Liberty Corner, NJ The program starts at the US Women’s Open in 2026 US Women’s Open in Riviera Country Club.
