The US Open is at the door, where the first round competition starts for the first time on a Sunday. Eliot Spizzirri, Stefan Dostanic, Tallon Greek Spoor and Adrian Mannarino belong to those who take the court on day 1.
(WC) Stefan Gosh vs. (WC) Eliot Spizziri
This is an all-American, All-Wild Card, Allelege Showdown in round one of the US Open. Their university days are now behind them, but not much. Dostanic just led Wake Forest to the NCAA team title in May, while Spizzirri closed his Texas career in 2023 after ending twice as the number 1 player in the nation. They have already confronted each other on the Pro Tour twice, both times on a home floor and on outside hard courts. Dostanic prevailed 3-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4 last year in Charleston before Spizzirri rode 6-3, 6-2 in Lexington a few weeks ago.
The proverbial rubber match should be a good one. Dostanic recorded his first main tour competition victory in Winston-Salem last week, where he quickly worked on Aleksandar Vukic before he expanded Lorenzo Sonego to a third set of Tiebreaker. Spizzirri, who successfully qualified at the US Open 2024 with a victory over Joao Fonseca, has reached four semi -final since Wimbledon. Based on its current form and the more recent head-to-head results, Spizziri should have a slight lead.
Pick: Spizzirri in 5
Adrian Mannarino vs. (29) Tallon Griekspoor
Greek rail made an upward climb in recent seasons and he continued it with a title on the grass judge of Mallorca two months ago. Since then, however, the 31st Ranged Dutchman has gone in the opposite direction. He is 1-5 in six games since winning that tournament and arrives at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center at a loss of four games.

Suddenly the routes of these two players have been crossed. Mannarino struggled mighty in 2024, but his summer has been productive. The French left -handed person reached the third round of Wimbledon as a qualification, finished in second place at the Newport Challenger, qualified in both Toronto and Cincinnati and ran to the fourth round of the last event. Mannarino is in good shape and – even although it is not as ideal as grass or indoors – a fast hard court fits his game. And if you are struggling like Giekspoor is now, Mannarino is one of the last guys you want to face.
Pick: Mannarino in 4
