Emma Raducanu has avoided the best seeds in the first two rounds of the US Open, but is still confronted with a challenging path while she is trying to convert her recent positive form into a first competition win in New York since her shock triumph here four years ago.

Great -Britain’s Raducanu, which is not sown, will open her tournament at a qualifying match. However, she could opposite the in-form 24th seed Veronika Kudermetova, a recent semi-finalist at the Cincinnati open, in round two. A potential opponent of the third round is a revival of Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon champion and another semi-finalist in Cincinnati last week.

Last year a low point for Raducanu marked when she lost in the first round after missing the majority of the American hard swing. This time she is as match-tough when she has been in recent years, in recent months a consistent high level has been established and Aryna Sabalenka, the World No 1, pushes to a final set of tie-break in their three-hour struggle in Cincinnati. Now ranked no. 35, Raducanu missed with only one place to be sown in New York.

In his return to Singles competition, after missing the entire American hard court, Raducanu’s fellow British player Jack Draper will also be confronted with a qualification or lucky loser in his opening round competition. Since Wimbledon, Draper, fifth, has no longer participated in singles after a diagnosis of a left forearm injury. However, he saw healthy and well prepared during his semi -final run in the mixed Doubles next to Jessica Pegula this week.

A year on his breakthrough run to the US Open Semi-Final, Draper was drawn in the quarter of Jannik Sinner, but a quarter-final Rematch with his old friend is far away with quality documents such as Gabriel Diallo, Lorenzo Musetti and Flavio Cobolli in his section.

The women’s field is led by Sabalenka, who will open her defense against the world No. 109, Rebeka Masarova from Switzerland. Rybakina, which she could meet in the quarterfinals, is the most dangerous player in her section before the semi -final and Pegula, the fourth seed, the second highest seed in the upper half.

Coco Gauff, the third seed, is signed in half of the draw of No 2-Sededed Iga Swiatek while trying to find her way after a difficult period since her French open victory in June. Swiatek is in good shape after he has opened Wimbledon and the Cincinnati in recent weeks.

The post will be confronted with Emiliana Arango from Colombia in the opening round. Venus Williams has since been signed against the 11th seed Karolina Muchova in her 25th performance at the US Open. Williams is the oldest participant in the event in 44 years.

Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, the top two seeds, will try to consolidate their rule of men’s tennis with a third consecutive Grand Slam Final Meeting and fifth consecutive final in general. Sinner will start his defense against Vit Kopriva of the Czech Republic and, together with a potential quarterfinals against Draper, the third seed Alexander Zverev is his projected semi -final opponent.

Alcaraz, however, has received a challenging opponent of the first round in the biggering Reilly Opelka, a former no. 17 on 6ft 11. While the fourth seed Taylor Fritz-the beaten finalist of last year-de projected semi-final opponent of Alcaraz can be sowed by, the seventh seed Novak Djokovic, who this year has been the best Grand Slam executor behind Sinner and Alcaraz with three consecutive semi-final. The 38-year-old has not participated since Wimbledon.

Many difficult tires in the first round wait for the rest of the British contingent. Katie Boulter will face the 27th seed Marta Kostyuk, and Sonay Kartal will stand in line against Beatriz Haddad Maia, the 18th seed. Cameron Norrie plays the American shotmaker Sebastian Korda, while Jacob Fearnley has been pulled against Spanish veteran Roberto Bautista Agut.
