US President Donald Trump said no final agreement has been reached on a nuclear deal after a three-hour meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and warned Iran of the consequences if negotiations fail. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he urged Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to continue negotiations with Iran during their White House meeting on Wednesday.“It was a very good meeting, the great relationship between our two countries continues.” Trump said this in a post on social media. “Nothing definitive was achieved other than my insistence that negotiations with Iran continue to see whether or not a deal could be reached.Trump also referred to previous US military actions against Iran and warned of the consequences if negotiations failed.“The last time Iran decided it was better not to make a deal, they got hit with Midnight Hammer – that didn’t work well for them,” he said, referring to the June 2025 US strikes on Iran’s three main nuclear sites.“Hopefully this time they will be more reasonable and responsible,” he added. The US president said the leaders also discussed the war in Gaza and broader developments in the Middle East. Iran continued to reel from its 12-day war with Israel in June after a series of airstrikes, including the US bombing of several Iranian nuclear sites, killed nearly a thousand people in Iran and nearly forty in Israel.Israel has long called on Iran to halt all uranium enrichment, roll back its ballistic missile program and cut ties with militant groups in the region. Iran has consistently rejected these demands, saying it would accept only some restrictions on its nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief. Washington built up forces in the region, sending an aircraft carrier, guided-missile destroyers, air defenses and more to supplement its presence. Arab and Muslim countries, including Turkey and Qatar, urged both sides to show restraint and warned that any strike or retaliation could have destabilizing consequences for a region already under pressure from the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
